Topic Submission for Master by Mix Mode (sem 2, session 2014/2015)

Dear Master by Mix Mode Students,

Please be informed that students who will be in the 2nd semester and above in the next semester are advised to register for the Dissertation (Proposal) in the coming semester (Semester 2, 2014/2015). Those who plan to register for the Dissertation (Proposal) must submit their topics to the faculty using form PSA 1 (http://www.management.utm.my/ogsr/download/forms.html) latest by 28 December, 2014 (430pm). Failure to do so will result in student not having any supervisor for next semester.

Students who would like to propose a supervisor should obtain the proposed supervisor’s signature and official stamp. PLEASE BE REMINDED, HOWEVER, THAT ANY TOPIC OR SUPERVISOR PROPOSED (IF ANY) ARE SUBJECT TO THE FACULTY’S APPROVAL. Please note that proposal presentations will be conducted during week 8 (mid-semester break) and week 16 (study week) and not at any time through out the whole semester or year.

Your failure to submit the report will cause an unsatisfactory result in this semester. You will be terminated if obtain the unsatisfactory result for two consecutive semesters. Faculty (to be specific, FM postgraduate office) will not entertain any excuses if you fail to submit the report on time.

IMPORTANT: PROGRESS REPORT ASSISTANCE

To all UTM Postgraduate Students by FULL RESEARCH and MIXED MODE (who registered for Dissertation),

 

The Online Progress Report Submission is already open! You need to use the online Graduate Studies Management System (GSMS) that can be accessed at http://spsapp3.utm.my:8080/gsmsv4/index.jsp. You can also access it from SPS website (http://www.sps.utm.my/).

 

What you need to do are:

1. Fill out the Log Book (if you havent done so throughout this semester). 

2. Fill out the Progress Report and click SAVE.

3. Click the Submit button in the Progress Report to be sent to supervisor's email (it has been set to their UTM's email).

4. Print PDF for your own copy/ proof and better send an email to your supervisor so they know you have filled out the Progress Report Online.

 

 

The date for students to fill out the online form is from 23 Nov to 03 Dec 2014.

 

The SPS Computer Lab will be opened to those students who have problems in filling their progress report using the GSMS online system. The schedule is as below :

Note :-
* The result for your Research/Dissertation Course for this semester (for Full Research & Mixed Mode Students taking Dissertation) depends on this Progress Report. 

*You will get a grade of either TM (Tak Memuaskan = Unsatisfactory) or MM (Memuaskan=Satisfactory). 

*Two times of TM in a row will result in KG (Kedudukan Gagal=Fail) and you will be terminated from the program.

 

** Students who did not send their report will automatically be given a TM.

Progress Report Submission (Deadline 3 Dec 2014)

Greetings PhD/Master by research and Master by mixmode (who are registered dissertation subject only),
 
Please be informed that you are now allowed to fill in your dissertation/research progress report via http://spsapp3.utm.my:8080/gsmsv4/index.jsp before or on 3 Dec 2014 (1159PM). Here are some potential problems when you are filling out the report:
 
1. You are unable to log in the GSMS account --> Kindly check you status whether you have registered or not registered the program (PhD, Master by Research or Master by Mix mode). Students who have not registered will not be able to fill in the progress report. 
 
2. You are unable to log in the GSMS account due to your outstanding balance --> Faculty unable to change or amend your account and kindly make payment to your outstanding balance.
 
3. You are unable to log in the GSMS account due to your current location (not in Malaysia) --> So far there is no issue of logging in the account out from Malaysia. If you still experience the difficulties, kindly find someone (your friends) in Malaysia to fill in on behalf of you. Please bear in mind that  you yourself are responsible with any consequences due to giving someone using your GSMS account.
 
4. You are unable to log in the GSMS account due to internet browser --> So far there is no issue in terms of internet browser. However I would suggest you to use google chrome when logging in the account.
 
5. You are unable to log in the GSMS account due to internet connection --> I would strongly suggest you to fill in the progress report by using UTM internet line such as our FM cyberlab.
 
6. You fail to fill in the progress report until the deadline (3 Dec 2014) --> Faculty has no authority to open the system and you will received an UNSATISFACTORY RESULT (TM) in this semester. Two consecutive TM status will lead to your termination of study.
 
7. Once you have fill in the progress report, kindy inform your supervisor to assess your progress in this semester.
 
Therefore, please fill in the progress report now and do not wait until its deadline. Thank you
