Dear student.
 
For MHM students who are planning to do or in the process of doing your dissertation, you are highly encouraged to join the Research Methodology class (MHAD1013), conducted by Dr. Ahmad b. Jusoh. This class is conducted every Thursday at 9.00am - 12.00pm in GF-02, T08. Those interested, please register this class as Hadir Sahaja/Sit-in (HS). The registration form can be manually filled and can be obtained from Mrs Zaidah at the OGS. Please do this as soon as possible as the class has started since week 1 of this semester.

DESCRIPTION
The SYMBIOSIS program focuses on merging prospective technologies developed by universities and research centers
with potential young graduate entrepreneurs to undertake commercialization.

  • 1 year program
  • Establishment of startup companies by participants at the end of the program.
  • 3-way partnership between MTDC, Universities/Research Institutes, and Graduates.

OBJECTIVES

  • To encourage the commercialization of research and development.
  • To increase the number of technology-based startup companies.
  • To provide opportunities for graduates in managing technology-based startup companies.
  • To gear up graduates with entrepreneur skills.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Open to Malaysian citizens.
  • Possess a degree in any field from a recognised university. Post-graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Obtained a minimum CGPA of 2.75.
  • Applicants must be below 33 years old.
  • Good communication skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Applicants must be committed to undergo and complete the whole program.

Session to Record Students' Thumb Print (Full Time Research Students only) 24 - 25 September 2014

Dear full time research students (PhD and Master by Research)

 
In order to access the FM building after the working hours, you are required to scan your thumb print on the reader. Therefore, faculty needs to record your thumb print to enable your access to the faculty. You yourself are required to attend the the following session: 
 
DATE: 24 September 2014 (Wednesday) or 25 September 2014 (Thursday
TIME: From 11 am to 1 pm only (The process will take less than 5 minutes)
VENUE: Viva Room 4
DOCUMENT NEEDED (COMPULSORY): UTM Matrix card 
 
Your failure to record the thumb print will cause problems to access the building after the working hours. Thank you for your concern.

MIXED MODE DISSERTATION (PROPOSAL) SEM 1 2014/2015

PROPOSAL

Dear Students,

FYI, presentation for proposal defense for this semester (2014/15-1) will be held tentatively on the following weeks ie.:

1.  Week 8 (26-30 October 2014)

2.  Week 16 (21-24 December 2014)

 

Those students who are involved, please act accordingly by submitting your report to the office 2 weeks before the related week ie.

a.   12 October 2014 (Sunday) – for week 8 presentation

b.   7 December 2014 (Sunday) – for week 16  presentation

 

FINAL WRITE-UP/REPORT

Presentation for final write-up can be conducted anytime during the semester whenever you are ready.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT TO RESEARCH STUDENTS: NOTICE FOR FIRST EVALUATION (PROPOSAL DEFENSE)

Greetings research students,
 
Kindly be informed that starting this semester (semester 1, session 2014/2015) the following will be strictly implemented:
 
1. PROPOSAL DEFENSE
a. PhD students 
By semester 4 (full time students) and semester 6 (part time students)
 
b. Master students
By semester 3 (full time students) and semester 4 (part time students)
 
2. PRE REQUISITE FOR PROPOSAL DEFENSE 
a. Passed or in the course of taking Research Methodology subject AND
b. Passed or in the course of taking university elective subject AND
c. Published an article (only PhD students)- at least any conference paper or book chapter or referred journal (at least acceptance letter).
 
3.   NOTICE FOR FIRST EVALUATION. 
Notice for first evaluation is valid for 3 months (which means students can submit notice for first evaluation first and send their proposal report to the office within 3 months from the date the notice is approved).

4. CONDITIONAL APPROVAL FOR PROPOSAL DEFENSE. 
PhD students who wish to submit their notification for first evaluation (proposal defense) but  have no publication yet, can still submit their notification but will be given a conditional approval. Condition being the student must published or receive any letter of acceptance for publication within 3 months from the date the notification is approved.  Otherwise a new notice must be submitted again to the faculty for approval and the same rule will also apply.

5. UNSATISFACTORY RESULT
Failure to defend on time – students will get TM (Tidak memuaskan)/ Unsatisfactory) result by default
 
6. TERMINATION OF STUDY
If students get TM two times consecutively, they will be terminated.
 
7. Therefore PhD students who are in the 4th semester and above and Masters by research students who are in the 3rd semester and above please take note of this notice.
