Beginning with the idea of critical difference between conventional and strategic human resource management practices, this course introduces students to the broader functions of Human Resource Management (HRM) in an organization. It addresses a wide array of topics including human resource planning, recruitment and selection; orientation, training and development; performance management and appraisal; compensation management; employee and industrial relations; and international HRM. Upon attending the course, the students are expected to fully appreciate the unique importance of human resource and the critical role of HRM. At the same time, the course is to enable them to apply HR related knowledge in managing human resource and enhance their confidence as future managers in various organizations.
